TVS has introduced Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) across its electric vehicle portfolio. Available on both Orbiter and iQube.This ownership model separates the battery cost from the vehicle price, making electric mobility more accessible, flexible, and affordable for Indian consumers. 

To be eligible, the applicant must:
  1. Be at least 18 years of age
  2. Possess a valid driving license
  3. Fill the application form to ascertain the customer’s credit status
  4. Meeting the necessary credit requirements

BaaS allows customers to own the vehicle while subscribing to the battery through a structured monthly payment plan. This reduces the initial purchase outlay and enabling customers to move a significant portion of the cost into a usage-based monthly subscription. 

Yes. With the Parent-Child loan option under BaaS, customers can benefit from improved cash flow and potential savings depending on the subscription plan. In some cases, this can mean up to 18% savings compared to a regular EV purchase. For example, on a TVS Orbiter V1 (1.8 kWh), choosing a 24-month scooter loan with a 60-month battery subscription can result in savings of up to ₹17,500 over two years compared to a standard EV purchase, and close to ₹1 lakh compared to a petrol scooter in a similar price range.

No. The extended battery warranty is bundled as part of the subscription plan to provide long-term battery assurance and peace of mind. The warranty ensures battery support throughout the subscription tenure. It also ensures customers get a good resale value if they wish to sell their vehicle within the warranty period. TVS is the only EV player in the market to offer Extended warranty protection plan bundled with its BaaS offering

TVS BaaS is a financial instrument that allows you to ride UNLIMITED with no monthly kilometre capping, along with a more accessible starting price for your EV. You get additional 2 years and 20,000 km coverage over and above your standard warranty offering as part of the BaaS Subscription plan, irrespective of the choice of tenure and variant.

No. The TVS BaaS model offers unlimited kilometre usage with no monthly cap. Customers also receive an extended battery warranty of 5 years or 70,000 km in case they go for 5 years tenure. 

During the subscription tenure, customers subscribe to the battery. Once the selected tenure is completed, no further subscription payments are required, and battery ownership is transferred to the customer.

Battery performance is covered for the entire tenure under the battery warranty (upto 5 years or 70,000 km based on tenure). Customers continue to receive service support and assurance throughout the warranty covered for the entire tenure.

No. At the end of the selected tenure, full ownership of the vehicle remains with the customer. The hypothecation closure process is completed and all necessary documents are handed over to the customer.

Yes. Customers can purchase the scooter outright and opt for the battery subscription separately.

No income tax exemptions apply under the BaaS model

Customers select their subscription tenure at the time of purchase and commit to the chosen plan for the duration of the tenure.

Not at all. You get the same battery, and same performance.

Currently there are no restrictions on the number of kms a customer can ride on his EV under the BAAS plan. However, BAAS plan is not available for commercial use. (Fleet Operator/Taxi)

TVSM BaaS comes with an unlimited KM plan and battery warranty for 5 years/ 70000km There is no restriction on the KM run once you have frozen the plan. Like in broadband you have unlimited data usage plan, and you have limited data usage plan.

  1. The customer signs the NACH form/completes the e-mandate registration
  2. The customer makes the processing fee payment to the dealer
  3. The dealer confirms the date of delivery to customer and Financier
  4. Financier marks the vehicle as delivered and the first monthly subscription shall be charged as per the agreement date
  5. The keys are handed over to the customer by the dealer

The RC card would be on the name of the customer. The vehicle (including the battery) will be hypothecated in the name of financier who is offering BAAS.

The vehicles would have the usual green board with white numbers and alphabets

The customer is responsible for ensuring that their vehicle is serviced during the periods prescribed by the OEM. This includes having the vehicle inspected at regular intervals.
The customer is also responsible for maintaining the battery and charger. This includes keeping the battery charged and following the manufacturer's instructions for charging and storing the battery.

  • Schedule regular maintenance: Have your EV serviced at regular intervals, as recommended by the OEM.

  • Keep the battery charged: Keep the battery charged to its full capacity as often as possible.
  • Follow the manufacturer's instructions: Follow the manufacturer's instructions for charging and storing the battery.
